How to Build a Market Distribution in Ren'Py
If your game is made with Ren'Py, you should create a Market build before uploading it to Oppai Launcher.
The Market build prepares your game for distribution on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Ren'Py provides a specific build option for this:
Windows, Mac, and Linux for Markets
For more information about Ren'Py distributions, see the official documentation:
Building Distributions — Ren'Py Documentation
1. Open your game in Ren'Py
Open the Ren'Py Launcher and select the game you want to build.
Before creating the build, make sure your game is ready to be distributed.
We recommend running Check Script (Lint) and testing the game before creating the final build.
2. Open Build Distributions
With your game selected in the Ren'Py Launcher, click:
Build Distributions
Ren'Py will open the distribution options.
3. Select the Market build
In the distribution options, select:
Windows, Mac, and Linux for Markets
This is the option you should use when preparing a Ren'Py game for distribution through Oppai Launcher.
If you only want to support specific platforms, select the appropriate platforms according to your release requirements.
For example:
Windows
macOS
Linux
Then start the build.
4. Wait for the build to finish
Ren'Py will generate the distribution for the selected platforms.
Depending on the size of your game, this may take some time.
Wait until Ren'Py finishes the build before continuing.
5. Find your build
Once the build is complete, locate the generated distribution.
The exact location can vary depending on your Ren'Py version and project configuration.
Your finished build should contain the files required to run the game.
For example, a market build may look like:
MyGame/
├── MyGame.exe
├── MyGame.sh
├── MyGame.app
├── game/
├── lib/
└── ...
The important thing is that the generated build contains the game's executable and all the files required to run it.
6. Upload the build to Oppai
Once your Market build is ready, you can upload it to Oppai Launcher using Oppai CLI.
